Presentation

The NPSC team is a joint group between the Institut Néel-CNRS / Univ. Grenoble-Alpes, and the Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Grenoble (IRIG) of the CEA.

Our activities are related to semiconductor heterostructures using a wide range of materials: nitrides, arsenides, II-VI semiconductors. The major fields of research developed in the group are:
• the growth of semiconductor nanostructures (quantum dots, nanowires, quantum wells) and their integration with optical microstructures like cavities, photonic nanowires or plasmonic nanoantennas
• the development of an expertise in structural characterization of those nanostructures (X-ray, TEM...)
• the optical study of new physical phenomena resulting from the reduction in size to the nano-scale. We are especially involved in the manipulation and detection of individual photons and/or spins.

These studies are carried out with a view to opening up new paths for future applications in the fields of spin-electronics, photonics, quantum optics and energy conversion.
