GT is working on various aspects of quantum nanoelectronics, superconductivity (both mesoscopic and bulk), magnetism and spintronics with a strong overlap with the experimental groups of PHELIQS, especially IMAPEC (correlated materials) and LATEQS (nanoelectronics).
Our aim in IMAPEC is to tackle current issues in condensed matter physics through three actions i) State of the art measurements, ii) A well equipped crystal growth facility, iii) A longstanding experience in the field of correlated electron physics, reinforced by strong collaborations in France and worldwide with other experimental groups and theorists.
The research activity of the team embraces various aspects of mesoscopic quantum transport in nanostructures and low-dimensional systems. In these systems we study the physics of individual confined electrons, as well as quantum phenomena resulting from strong electron-electron correlations ( e.g. due to superconductivity, Coulomb interaction, Kondo effect, etc.).
The scientific activity of NPSC laboratory should be cropped in a broader context, that of the mixed team "Nanophysics and Semiconductors", created in 1986, which brings together researchers from CEA, CNRS and Université Grenoble Alpes, to combine expertise and research efforts around the development and characterization of semiconductor nanostructures.
The SiNaPS team investigates the new physical phenomena appearing when silicon is down-sized to the nanometer scale. Our aim is to unveil new devices based on the understanding of those phenomena and to explore their future applications. Our effort is tightly focused on two fields the physics of silicon and germanium based nanostructures and the optics of wavelength-scale optical microstructures namely photonic crystals and microcavities.
CEA is a French government-funded technological research organisation in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defense and security, information technologies and health technologies. A prominent player in the European Research Area, it is involved in setting up collaborative projects with many partners around the world.
