During the international workshop "Quantum Hall edge: new results and old questions" (link below) held from July 2 to 8 in Villard de Lans, researchers at PHELIQS organized a public event on quantum physics in everyday life.

During an entire Saturday afternoon, a varied audience was able to discover how light-emitting diodes work and understand what determines their color. The presentation was accompanied by practical demonstrations and a quiz.

Participants also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with electronic transport in a crystal thanks to the board game |Hop> (link below). The rules of this game are based on the laws of quantum physics. They provide a playful introduction to concepts such as electron spin and Pauli's exclusion principle.

The visitors, as well as the many volunteers from the various PHELIQS teams, thoroughly enjoyed the event.
